... as the miserable summer drains away, we move to an autumn of discontent – and the warmists will continue with their mantras.

There has been much excitement over various scientific developments in the climate field, weakening still further the foundation of the warmists' belief system, but this has never been about science. Thus, eroding the foundations will have little effect on the progress of this scare.

It is the case in the scare dynamic that the longest and most damaging phase is the final one – the regulatory over-kill - which extends far beyond the original impact of the scare. We still have on the statute book legislation dealing with the 1988 salmonella scare, the listeria scare of the following year and the BSE scare of 1996.

EDF are running adverts on the local radio station featuring mock-up traffic reports of blizzards and drifting snow. "Remember last winter?" they ask. "Lock into fixed price energy tarriffs now to beat any price increases...."

Aren't most of these price rises down to levies to combat Global Warming?

I could laugh, I cannot though.

As the world turns away from the AGW insanity, there is one nation who have ignored the consensus, are oblivious to the comprehensive defenestration, of that preposterous postulation - man made CO2= warming of the earth's atmosphere.
A nation, who are in economic dire straits, saddled with an enormous public debt, a bureaucracy [and client state] which eats up 53% of it's GDP, a country locked into a totalitarian bloc, which is economically leeching the nation's lifeblood - and our money for nothing in return.
A country, who allowed an extra 590 thousand people [probably many more - we don't count them any longer] to enter this already overcrowded Island, most of these new entrants are economic migrants. In a nation who by very conservative estimates puts economically inactive citizens at [north of] 5 million.
A nation which is planning to give £11 billion away to foreign dictators, totalitarian regimes and terrorists in the coming years, that, fights in [why -we've forgotten] Afghanistan @ £3.5 billion/yr, gives £19.5 billion to the EU and spends £34 billion/yr on Quangos - EU offices in other words. Yet after all this profligacy, turns round to it's citizens and tells them - we can't afford your pensions [but you will have to afford ours!]

Next, what did our cretinous political claque do?

Sign up for a suicidal climate act, which in time - will precipitate an industrial collapse so catastrophic, even third world immigrants will decide to leave its shores, deciding that Somalia is a safer indeed wealthier option.

And winter beckons.....did I forget anything?

Feeling a bit 'down'? Depressed? A bit off colour? You know what? Its due to "climate change", as if you did not know.
Rick Moran on American Thinker reports the latest lunacy from the warmists:

Quote:
"RATES of mental illnesses including depression and post-traumatic stress will increase as a result of climate change, a report to be released today says.
The paper, prepared for the Climate Institute, says loss of social cohesion in the wake of severe weather events related to climate change could be linked to increased rates of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress and substance abuse.
As many as one in five people reported ''emotional injury, stress and despair'' in the wake of these events."

Note the the arrogance of the above reference to "will increase as a result of....".
I suppose then we'd better face the reality - every illness known to man could be due to climate change! Such ideologies produce nutty cranks like Chris Huhne and his friends and prentious organisations like the "Climate Institute" and similar, all of which serve no useful purpose whatsover.
The truth is, when an ideology takes over your mind and becomes an obsession you see it everywhere and in the most unlikely places defying all reason, logic, and worse, even when contrary facts fly directly in the face of it.
It must be some sort of mental aberration which only a succession of icy cold winters will finally cure.

Ravenscar,
I do not think you missed much if anything, disaster all the way. And all caused by our own extremely stupid politicians. What an obituary on our once great Country, our own politicians do what the combined German armed forces couldn't. You couldn't make it up,... or want to for that matter.

More importantly, we still have the Large Combustion Plant Directive in place. It was designed to deal with the nearly forgotten acid rain scare of the 70s. However, it was never withdrawn and has come in very handy for the AGW scare and the carbon mania. It will cause much of our useful generating capacity to be closed in the next few years or be operated with the payment of massive fines to the EU.

Not too far off topic, NETA predictions for wind power tomorrow...

Predicted to drop to 3.6% of capacity by Midnight tonight and to zero from Midday tomorrow.

Indeed. What a web of bullcrap they've spun and yet no one in the MSM wants to ask why this conundrum exists.

Unfortunately it's 'our own extremely stupid' electorate that has brought us to this. You can only blame the politicians up to a point.

No Derek, we do not have to make it up - alas.

I agree with the stupid bit................but why are they [now] a bit dim?

Bread and bloody circuses - and................

An electorate, which has been drenched by scurrilous black propaganda, dumbed down by 'educational reform' to a point, where they cannot even pinpoint their home town on an outline of the British mainland.

Still less read, digest then draw and make their own conclusions on the [patent lack of] 'science' of AGW.

To me, it is precisely the fault of our political claque, with their deliberate design, to trash the British Educational institutions and examination system - SATS - an effin disaster, where AGW suffuses, permeates every subject from Science [science - ha ha ha -what happened to pure science - Maths, Chemistry and Physics?] to bloody needlework.
Yep, the Frankfurt School ethos is working too damn well - all, the inspiration of our partners (partners? FFS!] ..........er slavemasters in the EU.

40 years of Socialism, 40 years of EU re-education - Marxist political insemination via the: 'back passage'.

All of this can be laid at the door of Britain's politicians - from Heath and his greatest act of perfidy through Thatcher, Major - to Blair + McBruin's signing of the Constitution, like a rat did he scurry [under the door] and place his scabrous paws, marking the dotted line................ now on to Camoron and his scandalous fifth columnists: the yellow filth [+ Red Tories].

Yes David, you can blame the electorate, I suppose - we allowed them to get on with it but did we ever have a choice?

Democracy? Is that what they call it?

Serfdom, is what I call it, back to 1066 and all that.

Affordable energy, prosperity and mortality rates are closely related.
Pull the power plug and we end our civilization.

It's as simple as that.

August frosts in Ireland and Scotland and a way below average UK summer hold the promise of another severe winter this year.

People are going to die because they can no longer afford their energy bills.
http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2011 ... ed-to-die/

Question: What are we going to do about the traitors who have put us in such a dire position?

I have a headache today...and my 'phone is down.
Some fools might think that it was 'a whisky too far' last evening & a sudden thunderstorm that has produced this double-whammy.
Thereto I have to tell you that we've had a lousy Summer & I'm still using my Winter duvet...also, my very antisocial cat unwillingly comes to me for warmth (the poor misguided creature.) (that's me)
The price of gas is astronomic & VAT on the sparky stuff has tripled.
So I'm suffering from an overweening guilt trip, knowing the I & my fellow humans are responsible for what is befalling us.
I was thinking of building a windmill but on looking around I notice that all the others are motionless.
I need help & advice; should I burn the furniture or not?

I see that Al Gore has been name-calling again. Apparently climate sceptics are as bad as racists!

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/08/28/al-gore-compares-climate-change-to-civil-rights-fight/

I love the way he complains about industrial scale agriculture but clearly thinks that ethanol production is something else. With fools like this leading the global warming campaign, no wonder it's dying on it's arse.
