I'm happy that the Icelanders will at least be able to keep out of the clutches of the EU. Since fishing is a major part of their economy, joining the CFP really would have been national suicide.

My Icelandic is a bit rusty, but the "fokking fokk" on the placard seems clear enough.

I'm as challenged as the next man on Icelandic but I know a fokking cognate when I see one.

Still, I wanted to be sure, and I wanted to know what the fokking fokk "Helvítis" is?

Helvítis Fokking Fokk    Very good. I know what he means. I feel the same way myself.

BTW, commenters vafla9 and glesgawarrior supply the answer to my question.

vafla9:
Helvítis fokking fokk basicly translates into: Goddamn fucking fuck!

glesgawarrior:
Yea, he's looking for something to protest about as there's always a small protest happening (but nowadays these seem to be getting out of hand!) outside the parliament building, but he's got so much running through his mind, in a fit of frustration, just writes damn fucking fuck!!!! hehehe!! So funny........ i can't wait to be back in Iceland for 3 weeks in April!

AS this is a Helen thread I'll just inform you that Charles Johnson's credibility is shredded for good.

http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/025829.php

"Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs, in his attempt to portray the German anti-jihad group Pro-Köln as neo-Nazi and to smear me in the process (paste in the link to get around his block), has fallen for the same Photoshop techniques that he has unmasked when Leftists and jihadists use them in the mainstream media."

No, this is a thread about Iceland and the interesting slogans seen on their posters and t-shirts.

OT

Where's Christopher Booker's piece this week?

A search of the Telegraph site turns up only his piece on 18th as the latest.

They must have put the comment blockers on Booker?

Very odd.

An acquaintance of mine tried to post a comment hours ago but they didn't put it up. Mind you, they don't post his comments anyway so that's not much of a test.
