It ain't snowing here in little ol' England, but, we are told, Canadians cleaning up after a series of snowstorms blasted through the country should hold on to their shovels. Forecasters are predicting some regions will soon be walloped by more winter weather.

Reports of the demise of the warmists are I fear premature.

We often get that North East US weather some time later. January could be a brute.

Will the Al-Beeb have live commentary of the blizzards, during their News shows???

It is Christmas Eve,the sky is blue and the sun is shining! Mea culpa, mea culpa,I was wrong, the world is getting warmer,I believe it now,how could I have ever doubted.? I believe!!!

" I believe for every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows,
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
A candle glows,
I believe for everyone who goes astray,
Someone will come to show the way,
I believe, I believe.

I believe above the storm a smallest prayer
Will still be heard,
I believe that someone in the great somewhere
Hears every word,
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
Or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
Then I know why,
I believe.

Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
Or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
Then I know why,
I believe."

As it is 7 C in London, it is hardly proof that Global warming is not happening. In the 1980s in London it was common for ponds in January to freeze so much that grown men could walk across them - not true any more.

Everything is proof that global warming is happening. Snow, ice, hail, you name it ... it's all down to global warming. A typically mild UK Christmas ... obviously global warming!

Christmas Day is often mild if I recall correctly but it is Boxing Day and onwards that you have to watch out for.

Here in France for Boxing Day (not that the French do Boxing Day) the start of a cold spell is forecast, i.e., max 32 degrees F for the North.

Snow in Canada! Core Blimey; Stone the Crows! 'oodda thunkit?

This is the first time since 1971 that the entirety of Canada is under snow. This applies particularly to the balmy, barmey, left coast of British California, particularly the cities of Vancouver and Victoria.

I keep telling you, it's global warming ... underlying global warming, that is. If it wasn't for that, the snow would be ten feet deep in places ... er ... it is! It's still global warming though!

Quite easy to check here, which tells us that the December results from the Central England Temperature Records were:

1979 5.8
1980 5.6
1981 0.3
1982 4.4
1983 5.6
1984 5.2
1985 6.3
1986 6.2
1987 5.6
1988 7.5
1989 4.9
1990 4.3
1991 4.7
1992 3.6
1993 5.5
1994 6.4
1995 2.3
1996 2.9
1997 5.8
1998 5.5
1999 5
2000 5.8
2001 3.6
2002 5.7
2003 4.8
2004 5.4
2005 4.4
2006 6.5
2007 4.9

Now these figures are not precisely that of London but are based upon the country average. So we might expect London to vary somewhat. If London really was consistently cooler than the surrounding countryside in the 1980s then it would be an oddity not only for its defiance of the urban heat island effect but also its failure to be a similar number of degrees cooler in the current decade.

And here's January just in case anyone's interested

1969 5.5
1970 3.7
1971 4.5
1972 3.9
1973 4.5
1974 5.9
1975 6.8
1976 5.9
1977 2.8
1978 3.4
1979 -0.4
1980 2.3
1981 4.9
1982 2.6
1983 6.7
1984 3.8
1985 0.8
1986 3.5
1987 0.8
1988 5.3
1989 6.1
1990 6.5
1991 3.3
1992 3.7
1993 5.9
1994 5.3
1995 4.8
1996 4.3
1997 2.5
1998 5.2
1999 5.5
2000 4.9
2001 3.2
2002 5.5
2003 4.5
2004 5.2
2005 6
2006 4.3
2007 7
2008 6.6

It's noticeable that the 1980s had not a single year with a below zero January. In fact apart from the two 0.8s and the stray minus zero in 1979 the average for the years back to 1969 were much higher. I'll grant those three years were colder but why start a trend line that recently. Go back another ten years like I have and the last decade looks normal.

I dunno... "global warming" is becoming a sneer phrase in the US.

"So... how much global warming got dumped on you today?" is becoming a very familiar refrain over here!

People NOT BELIEVING!!!!
If the man with the snow shovel is trying to find his street, what does he think about Obamagore spending trillions to put the US in lead in putting the climate together?
A commenter on WattsUpWithThat pointed out the delicious irony of Obama's inauguration being driven inside by a blizzard. Since the climate seems to have got seriously miffed with Gore I'm sure we can rely on it to spot that one PDT_Armataz_01_22 .
I 'spose I should google inauguration and blizzard.
Seriously, though, the snow, and the reaction to it must be getting the warmistas saying quite silly things?
