We are not unused to government continuing unabated in the face of contradictory evidence. Therefore, we remain unamazed by the government's response to the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee report on "The Economics of Renewable Energy." It was commenting on the plan to generate "15 percent" (actuallly 32 percent) of the UK's energy from renewable sources to meet EU targets by 2020, stating thus:

Power stations need to talk to farmers. All bio-matter from the farm, may be dried and should be used by the power-stations as carbon credits. When a power-station starts using all that warm damp CO2 laden air to actually grow things then I would call that a genuine 'green' as opposed to melon result.
Of course one of the fastest producers of biomass is hemp....

IIRC Scottish Water developed such a scheme,but the Environment Agency classified the biomass as waste which could only be disposed of as waste. I'm sure our hosts will have chapter and verse.
