Crisis!

This was the scene in Coventry this morning, that bit of England stuck somewhere between London and Yorkshire. It was sent to us by an embattled reader, who bravely withstood the vicissitudes of this frenzied nightmare to record the scene.

Let it snow!

I guess you are going to get a lot of this from this blog over the winter, as we see it shaping up for an unusually cold one.

The news is that the first big snowstorm of the season in the Northeast USA shut down sections of major highways this morning and blacked out thousands of electricity customers. The National Weather Service posted a winter storm warning for parts of New York state, in effect until 8 a.m. Wednesday, and issued winter storm advisories for parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Vermont.

Come here and say that …

Lord Puttnam says the government is still failing to make the most of an untapped resource - local communities – in dealing with climate change. "Engaging communities," he believes, "involves a lot more than simply asking for sacrifices ... like turning the heating down".

These arty-farty empty vessels never do know when to shut up.

Hang on though.

There's method to this madness. Indeed, why not get a big-time film producer in on the act? How appropriate for the over-giga-budget Greatest Fantasy of All Time.

"Carbon .....IS........the Terminator!", as the laboured husky voice-over on the trailers would say.

"It is only in our own London that small figures can loom so large in the vapour" as I believe 'ole G.K.C. once wrote.

Thinking about it, the above describes this sort of windbag (CO2 Bags?) pretty well. And Cameron, too.

Local Authorities are more detested than the EUnuchs in westminster, which is not easy to achieve, but they've done it. The man's a complete fool.

I live in the DFW area of North Texas and it got down to 30 degrees F last night. Very very early frost for us.

Hmm, so when do the polling stations open? Are the Dems still trumpetting how much they'll cream off the economy to fight AGW? Have the GOP been smart enough to shut the fqup about AGW?
All quite fun really.
Republicans parading a polar bear through snow-shrouded Chicago would be quite witty. Good photo-op for Palin ;)

That is the problem ... there's not a fag paper between the Dems and the GOP on AGW.

Thus, just for the fun of watching them squirm – proving once again that the consensus is invariably wrong – let it snow!

That consensus again! There was a debate going on my Critical Thinking (compulsory - believe me, I'd never choose such a bogus subject) class the other week about global warming, with the teacher inevitably and continually referring back to that "consensus" that apparently exists between all living scientists.

Jacqui Smith is getting quite a lot of flak for branding those who won't sign up to her "consensus" on 42-days detention as "ignoring the threat from terrorism". It just shows that the notion of a consensus is nothing more than an argumentative tool, designed to make those who disagree with you seem like "disturbers of the peace".

Looks as though the Climate Change Bill will be passed in the House of Commons tonight. Do the clowns in Westminster never watch the weather forecasts?

What's just as bad, is that they don't even realise how stupid they look, which yet again proves how seriously thick they all are..

"What's just as bad, is that they don't even realise how stupid they look, which yet again proves how seriously thick they all are.."

Not really. The bars in Westminster have central heating,MP's London homes have central heating, courtesy the tax payer. They drive around in cars, nowhere they go is cold.
Like Lord Pratnum,MPs have no comprehension of the privations of ordinary people. For the elderly turning the heating down is not an option, they haven't turned it on!
