We do ourselves no favours on this blog, pointing out again and again, in as many different ways as we can devise, the simple but unescapable fact that much of our government resides not in Westminster and Whitehall, but in Brussels.

There is something about the political classes and the chatterati in general that they cannot deal with this. They are in denial, determined to ignore that reality and carry on as if it were "business as usual". That they still behave as if London is the centre of government is not a pretence.

I see that the "ex-torygraph" in an editorial claim that the leadership and return to conservative core values are responsible for the rise? of the party. I do not know where the journalist is looking but I have seen no sign of either so far. Leadership seems totally lacking and does he know what the core values are? What an idiot. Meanwhile as they cannot run the Country, in our interest, they waffle and harras us. And they want our vote!

I watched Jack Straw yesterday in a parliamentary comittee and he was still banging on about the implementation of regional government as though it was a Westminster concept, we know different, but on the Euro train rumbles whether we want it or not and he accepted that most of the country does not.

Reality wins, eventually.
