We were writing about this in January 2006, lamenting the £10 billion plus costs of the EU's obsession with waste, and now chickens are coming home to roost.

From The Daily Telegraph and others, we learn of a report of a "hard-hitting report" by the Audit Commission which warns of council tax hikes arising from local authority failures to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.

On top of all the other insanity that rains down upon us. courtesy of the EU, the bin fiasco is more then likely going to be a major headache, for this and all future governments, because everyone knows we had a perfectly good system before. They may not have known how it worked, but work it did and now all they see is chaos and expensive bullying. Plus they are already haveing to pay through the nose, to keep the clowns that enforce it, in clover.

So the government either have to continue to defend the incomprehensible and look like total idiots, or fess up that they have no control over it, tks to the EU, because they cannot ignore it.

The similarity between the pictures of this and First Report struck me - perhaps mosques could be (or should be?) used as waste incinerators.

The pictures were chosen by the same person. Hence the similarity. I wouldn't read too much into pictures. They are not that important.

What will it take to make the people of this country 'wake up' to the ruin that the EU is bringing and will continue to bring as long as we remain within its grip?

This corrupt institution has the power to determine what food we can can grow, what we can put into our bins and what power we can use to light and heat our homes - while we all pay for that 'privilege.'

Short of a gestapo officer wearing a ring of stars armband knocking in the front door and taking the telly away during the football or Eastenders, I don't think anything will disturb the sheep-like public.
