Although the media world-wide are besotted with the Obama drama, more sanguine commentators are pointing out that this is indeed theatre, with very little depth. Before too long, insistent voices are going to be heard, asking, "where’s the beef?"

But, while heads are turned, far more important things are happening elsewhere, of much greater importance to the lives of real people. Inevitably, they are unnoticed by the media which is transfixed by the histérie du jour as much as any rabbit caught in the glare of a speeding car’s headlights.

I hope that the EU climbs down of its green horse because if the likes of Hutton keep saying things like he did yesterday, we'll be paying huge fines to Brussels.

The great successes of the Italian Government have been achived because there are no Greens or Comunists in the elected government.

Economic reality has come crashing through the door and will continue to do so.

The Al-Beeb will need it's own cardiac unit, going 24/7, they'll need another building for all the stress/shock counsellors, to treat the survivors... the Grauniad may just have to put mattresses under all it's windows....

Meanwhile down at F**k up Central, aka the EU Commission, they 'll be doleing out 3yr sabbaticals on compassionate grounds, all expenses maintained of course.

I prefer to call it the Jo Moore effect!

Surely apart from taxation so called green measures at EU level has always been about control of production, like the original treaty was about coal and steel and politicians are now realising the folly of their ways?

The links and postulations in the previous thread about the effect of two world wars on climate I found fascinating and thought provoking. In climate models they have depicted the oceans as little more than a bucket of water and concentrated on the atmospheric data which I have always considered risible. The confounding variable?

Auntie Beeb ("auntie" in the sense that Stalin was "Uncle Joe") is one of those reporting that wind farms cause a drop in pressure that makes bats' lungs explode:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7581990.stm

To comply with an EU Habitat Directive, my brother had to spend 15k earlier this year to rehouse six (6) bats from one of his barns.
