Windfall tax wont happen, the government needs to keep the power companies sweet in order to get them to build power plants

I think the point I am making is that, de facto, we are getting a "windfall tax" - from the auctioning of the permits. Aside from that, never underestimate the stupidity and greed of government.

Also, recall that the Labour Party is in a £20 million black hole, and the only way they will get any money is from the unions, unions run by pin headed socialists such as Tony Woodley of Unite, who wants a winfall tax on the "greedy oil companies", who have the temerity to sell an internationally traded commodity at the world market price. That does not compute to morons such as Woodley, which is why the North Sea is a declining resource. There is oil to be had there, but the special taxes are oppressive, and the oil industry does enough business with banana republics to know a place where it is just not worth their while to invest.

Might it be possible to confirm information in the latest Booker column (Sunday Telegraph) where I may have picked up on something entirely wrongly.

With regard to ever spiralling utility bills is it correct that a proportion of these increases is due to subsidising wind farms...which plainly don't seem capable of fixing any future energy crisis.

It's my understanding that, that is the case, Windfarms are being subsidised by higher bills, as is the whole Carbon Trading scam.

It might be worth doing a calculation of just how much it is all costing per household/percentage increase in price and then try and make that into a viral e-mail by sending it to friends and asking them to pass it on etc
