Devolution was supposed to end the SNP menace for ever and a day. The Labour Party, ever mindful of the need to preserve the lobby fodder its forty MPs from Scotland represent, reckoned they could have their devolution cake and eat it. Now they may be on the point of choking on its crumbs.

Perhaps devolution was done more with regard to breaking up the United Kingdom than for just the Nulab vote scam. That, of course, was part of their calculation but a minor part, considering the kudos to be gained by delivering up our Nation to the EU as just a bunch of regions. That will no doubt pay off handsomely for some grovelling hack.

As to using Ken "I love the EU" Clarke to chair a group talking about "democracy", definitely putting the lunatics in charge of the asylum.
