The Boy commits to making new regulations, if needed, to improve ship safety. But, oh woops! He hasn’t implemented the last lot yet, and his EU masters are getting rather cross.

Cameron indulging in pantomime knee jerkery for provincial market research points...

It's woeful.

We don't need an opposition - just a few milligrams of informed common sense - it would work like Kryptonite to the inhabitants of the lower chamber. LD100 with any luck.

One wonders if statements like this are rooted in devious dissembling or straightforward ignorance and stupidity?

OK Now I am truly puzzled. Why is the EU dictating how much gas transmission capacity there should be between N and S Ireland? Is this just a demonstration of the Marxist nature of the EU? (he said rhetorically)

When the "Opposition" is only interested in perks for them and theirs, how can it be "halfway decent" in any credible manner?

Not to disparage your politicians in East Pondia, of course. Our two parties over here are one and the same as well, merely fighting over which of their cronies will get the public largesse and which of them will get the best offices and staff funds. Both are quite happy to head towards the same destination.

But as we all know, the single market is not the subject of his adoration at all. That is just something to promote because it sounds like it produces commerce and prosperity. As we all know, it is highly arguable whether it does that at all. I think more to the point, the entire political class and elites of business, banking etc. are all in love with the EU for their own ends as you have maintained many times before Richard. But they dare not admit that.

Witterings links to this site as his source and says it is well worth a bookmark.

Quote:
It is important to note that the European Commission, an unelected body, has the power to make law using the methods above without recourse to either the European Parliament or the Council of Ministers. The UK Parliament, our MP’s, now only create on their own initiative something in the region of 15% of the laws that pass through Westminster. All other laws and Statutory Instruments are in furtherance of laws that have been made in Brussels using the 3 methods above.

(Duly bookmarked)

So after being left to sort out a small rump(15%)of legislation our well rewarded representatives in Westminster appear to not even be able do that efficiently.....what are they doing in there?

Be careful ... I would not take the site as a reliable authority.

"..If we had a halfway decent opposition, it could have rather a lot of fun at the Boy's expense..."

We have the opposition, and the government, we deserve. If we had a decent electorate, we could have politicians, of ether the Left or Right, who actually believed in the principles they espoused and constructed cogent arguments in support of them.

Instead, we have elected this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-16750583

The trouble is that we have to work with what we have ... otherwise we end up sounding like Hitler ... how can the people be trusted?

I've blogged the BBC piece. Thanks.

You cannot entirely blame the People, they are fed stories, literally, by the MSM, the BBC being by far the worst. Far too many do not have the education or means to look critically at what they are told. At an election, as we have seen four times in recent years, we have a choice of three parties who are indistinguishable, if you spoil the Ballot Paper it is just not counted, so there is an incentive to vote. But we are then faced with hand picked candidates, yes men for the boss, who rarely take to the streets and debate with the people they are supposed to represent. The odds are so loaded that there is no surprise that we get the dross getting the job, if such it can be so called. On the odd occasion when I have had a visit from a potential MP, one mention of the EU and he runs like buggery and misses the next few houses. They must collude, because none have called in the last two elections, from any party!
