A photo from my Emma the artist. It doesn't all look like that, of course. This is one of the better bits.

Anyhow, a huge thank you to everybody who sent in their best wishes and otherwise made contact those six weeks ago, at a very trying time. I don't think I can express enough how much that meant to us, and how comforting it was to Mrs EU Referendum.

All the very best to you and yours, Richard. And to all the extended family too. I am deeply grateful that you have created this blog. You are a beacon of reason and light in a sea of journalistic stupidity and ordure. May you enjoy many more Christmases to come.

At least it won't be a long wait. And, a merry Christmas to you and all who chance to read this.

I would particularly like to remember all the members of the forum who offer choice comments here. This is an unusual site where one does not have to wade through endless muck to find worthwhile thought. So, with my Christmas greeting, my thanks to you all.

P.S. It's a good thing to take a day off from being grumpy. I will have to try it some time.

Must admit it was a very worrying time for us all and it's great to have you back, in such fine fettle too.
Somehow I feel much more optimistic that the evil empire will be overcome, sooner rather than later.
And with that happy thought I wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas Dr North - I rarely comment as my expertise lies nowhere close politics but I have been an avid daily reader for over 5 years. Keep up the sterling work - glad the pig parts are working well. I'm looking forward to your thoughts and views on what are probably going to be 'interesting times' in 2012.

We are all delighted you are still with us. Your grumpy posts reassure us that you are enjoying life. :)

May this be the first of many bonus christmases for you both.

Photo, it Looks like - just off the Leeds road, or Thornton road, Manningham Lane.... nice areas.

Anyroad up, to you and your dear wife [a tower of strength methinks] AND family, wishing you all a happy Christmas!!

And, reading this blog makes me realise - other people share my [or some of ] my thoughts!?

Thank you: for the carefully constructed [links etc] and always thoughtful blog Dr. R. [and maybe sometimes magnificently raging - I too - feel the pain].

Plus, all you lot who comment on here - happy crimble lads'n'lasses!
