A huge increase in state funding of political parties, worth up to £100m over a five-year parliament, is being proposed by a government-commissioned inquiry.

Says The Guardian, the funding, which would be shared out according to the number of votes each party receives in a general election, would be presented as a way of compensating them for a huge loss of income as a result of introducing new caps on individual donations to parties.

I would rather give the money to The Mad Hatter's Tea Party. PDT_Armataz_01_02

Good God people!
How can you be trusted to make the right decisions if we have insufficient funds to be able to tell you how to vote?

They've been trying to exonerate the twat for how many months now?

I'm sure they'll find some mitigating circumstances, just having trouble trying to think what they may be.

Two responses to this:

Vote UKIP/BNP/anything but the lib/lab/con troika

Don't vote at all

If the money depends on numbers of votes then we have to deprive them of those votes.

Good point ... there is another reason not to vote (for them).

That bit of news has brightened the day already - it's approaching the end game, hopefully, and the little scrote will, if there's any justice, be away from the levers of power & hopefully enjoying time at Her Majesty's Pleasure PDT_Armataz_01_34

Getting back OT - this gem has beeen offered up before, and (rightly) dismissed. However, the elephant in the room is that, as I understand it, the EU (who else? PDT_Armataz_01_33 ) would LOVE political parties to be solely publicly funded, & the condition for this largesse would be that there is no criticism of the EvilUnion per se, thus eliminating the likes of UKIP & its equivalents across the continent, & consequently permanently condemning Europe to 'meet the new boss, same as the old boss' - a situation which, on the face of it, we've pretty much already arrived at here in Blighty PDT_Armataz_01_19

Perhaps we should have a referendum on this matter?

Of course this comes back to the circular argument...

No votes = No exposure = No votes!

There is actually an e-petition set up for those who think that this manifestation of our 'democracy' will have any effect.

There are very few signatures, possibly because of lack of interest by the population. I wonder why that could be?

More taxpayer money for the self serving snouts.

Absolutely! I will "not vote" 10,20, or more times at the next election in order to deprive these crooks of an ounce of encouragement to exist as MPs.
So, because they cannot muster support from a public which generally hates these mendacious lying, greedy careerists, they must now resort to sucking the public teat. When will these numptys learn. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PUBLIC MONEY - ONLY OURS!

All together now: WE WILL NEVER, EVER PAY THEM A SINGLE PENNY.

If they want funds for their despised political activities let them raise these from their "own sources" - we pay then more than enough already - and for what?

Something tells me the Honourable (not) Members (certainly) won't need three line whips to buy their ovine consent on this matter.
