Hague and the Kermit foreign minister Alain Juppé met in London yesterday to discuss UK-France cooperation on Libya. The outcome is that Britain is prepared to follow the Kermit's lead and agree to a political settlement in Libya that would see Gaddafi remain in the country after relinquishing his hold on power.

Sunned by the news, incredulous crowds queued impatiently outside Buckingham Palace to hear more details, while anxious passers-by snapped up copies of the papers to find out more. And thus did a once-great nation slide into decline, given the run-around by a tin-pot North African dictator, the like of whom we used to sell by the dozen.

The death of Amy Winehouse. It's at times like these you really miss the real thing, Tony Blair. H2B is pale by comparison, he can't do it. In fact Jonny Marbles would be a better PM. Oh and by the way my phone is yet to be hacked, I wonder why?

It should go without saying - but I'll say it anyway that this is a total humiliation for the Boy, and by rights it should be the end of him. He played and we've payed along with however many unfortunate Libyan civilians were killed in the bombing. And now I suppose we will have to await Col Gaddafi's revenge, in whatever form it takes. Oh how I wish this slimy coalition would break up and sink, taking Dave & Co and their wretched party with them - please let it be soon.

The Libyan adventure was an obvious mistake from the start. Beginning as a humanitarian intervention, it soon strayed into hesitant military action and talk of overthrowing Gadaffi, No thought was given as to the resources needed. No clear identification of British interests. No understanding of what the rebel factions were about or what they were capable of, or what the likely result would be if Gadaffi was ousted. No thought given to what would happen if Gaddafi wasn't ousted. There was much rubbish talked about "The Arab Spring", obviously a naive comparison between recent events in North Africa and Czechoslovakia in the late 60s. A serious action entered into on the basis of feel-good twaddle, the goal being a vague hope.

It looks as if Cameron viewed it as a PR event rather than a military action. Does he see anything in terms other than PR?

Shortly after, before it became crystal clear that meddling in Libya was a mistake, he was tub thumping about messing in Syria. He seems to have gone quiet on that.

The irony of it is that Cameron and Hague are quite strident in their demands for democracy in all sorts of foreign countries, about which they know little, but they are distinctly lukewarm when it comes to democracy in the UK.

The trouble is, Cameron is a PR man, and that is all he is. He mouths the word he feels will make him sound good but doesn't even understand them as he speaks. Not that he is alone in this, his cabinet, ha, ha ,ha, are united in the stupidity.
