It looks very much as if the latest squirming by the "colleagues" isn't even going to get them past the holiday period. The deal is already beginning to unravel. Ambrose is in fine form as well.

To be honest, though, there really isn't a lot more to say on this issue. It is just a matter of waiting for the crash and, to some extent the details don't matter. But we can take issue with Ambrose, when he says "Europe's ideologues took the whole world to the brink of disaster" as if this is in the past. We are teetering on the brink at the moment, and the "colleagues" are going to tip over, and attempt to drag us all down.

It now seems a toss-up as to which is more sunk, the Titanic or Greece. The fact that the Euro has remained relativley stable; with so much writing on the wall, means that the end-game will be all the more rapid when it comes. When the markets eventually turn on the Euro, it will be a massacre.

Bring it on!

And of course, you cannot heap criticism upon the EU now. That would be nationalistic and thus defined as right-wing extremism.

This crash is inevitable, it always was. The longer it is delayed the more injured there will be, so yes bring it on.

BUT it is going to be far worse than anything any us us have experianced in our life times, and it is happening at a time when the world is already unstable and has other problems to face. It will hurt the poorest whilst the richest; the Kinnocks and Blairs and Mandelssons might even benefit by having assets when everyone else is going bankrupt.

In the chaos the thugs will try to take over, unless we have good leaders. The 1926 crash was followed by the depression of the 30s and rise of Hitler and WWII. Lets hope we are luckier.

Bernard Connelly didn't seem to think the Euro would fold. He foresaw Germany paying out something like 7% of its GDP to these PIIGS for ever. That or Greece would leave the Euro.
