Gratuitous violence from the Spanish police. The protests are not going to stay "cuddly" for very long at this rate.

Read this last year - full of things that seem to be re-playing - really.

There are differences - no Herr Hitler, no Stalin and his emissaries and the Internet..... however, when civilian disorder hits a certain level, the game changes.

An élite intoxicated with it's own power and deluded by the sound of it's own voice is heading for a cropper.

Keeping the Spanish theme , this little gem is over at Bishop Hill's place

Could Cheryl Cole agreeing to do their X Factor help heal the wounds ?
In other words...Sssssssshhhhhh ! Shush. Do not tip off the msm to a real news story about protest in Spain. Keep it to yourself. Unlikely as it is with their record, They might miss it completely ! PDT_Armataz_01_24

The BBC did have the Serb protests and the police action from Belgrade.
Sadly the Balkans may again be closer to civil war than many dare believe.
The glue uniting the peace was Serbia wanting to join the EU.

It should be noted that the Police quickly fell back & eventually disappeared; after reinforcements arrived supporting the protesters & the police found them completely & utterly outnumbered. Amazingly protesters did refrain from taking vengeance on the police.

More echoes of the 1930s. The regional divisions will kick in - in a while. I seem to recall the Catalonians have already been vocal and out in numbers?

"We are Catalans first and Europeans second, but don't call us Spanish!"

If you enjoy reading about people not getting it:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... grows.html

"We strongly believe in the European Union, because there we have an alliance that potentially gives the same voice to small 'nations', like Catalonia, as to bigger countries such as Spain and France," said Pol Pages, 25, a leading member of the youth arm of ERC, the separatist party which forms an important part of the Catalan regional coalition government.
"And the European Union offers protection," he added. "If tomorrow Catalonia voted to break away from Spain, Madrid couldn't send in the army as it has threatened in the past because we are a part of Europe and protected by its laws.
"Europe to us represents democracy, human rights and a respect for freedom and we hope one day to be recognised as our own state within it."

The little girlie writes from Madrid ... has she not noticed the demonstrations there?

Belay that ... I hadn't noticed the date ... 2009. Sentiment might have changed since then.

There is little doubt that The EU has a grip on the European police forces. promises of riches and power are the means. We saw it writ clear at Snotty's G20 and will witness it all over Europe. That stupid mantra that "it's all about no more European wars" is looking rather pathetic. People need their own freedom and their own decency not to be trampled over by an arrogant elite.
