It is about as clear as the UK contribution to the EU.

There aren't 53 million homes but 53 million meters. Or at least that is the assumption the Government, Daily Mail and everyone else seems to be making. About 26 million homes with two meters per home. Which isn't likely. I would guess Oil and LPG heating homes won't be included. The true figure is more like the 47 million mentioned in this Programme Director, Smart Metering job advert.

DECC/Ofgem also have got it into their brains that 'business' (ie utilities firms) will shoulder half the cost. I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

Energy firms are expecting to save £11 billion from not having to read meters physically and have legions of call centre staff which is about the same projected cost as the installation of smart meters. Take them at their word and there is no need to add a penny to anyone's bills to pay for this.

The requirement for smart meters is apparently an EU thing - 80% of meters to be smart by 2020. Needless to say Labour wanted to do it faster and the coalition have further accelerated the project.

Every person should refuse a smart grid connection.

If necessary (and possible) put a big propane tank in your garden and generate your own electricity with a generator in your
basement.

Use the propane not only to fuel your generator but also to fuel up your LPG converted car.

You can buy big 7.000 liter tanks with a pump that enables you to fuel your car at home and power your house.

Er..... no they are not, they are a boon for the energy suppliers and government number crunchers and ultimately will give governmental control over an individual's electricity connectivity - what a toy that is!

Benefits?......................Ha Ha Ha.

The answer is no. This madness that passes for government has to change and the sooner the better.

I don't know why they keep repeating the 'this will help you save energy' mantra, having a smart meter won't make the cooker or the kettle or heating any more efficient. What is does give is the energy supplier a view of YOUR realtime usage, so how long before you get a text message telling you that you have reached your allocation for today, and your energy rate is about to double.
I wouldn't mind betting that once these things are installed, you will see the pricing structure of the energy companies to change to charging higher unit costs the more you use rather than the current primary / secondary rates we have here (it will be done on green reasons)
One the plus side building these meters will create work for lots of chinese and Germans

Another German will soon unveil a master plan for a transformation of society.
The smart grid is an integral part of this transformation, no matter the costs.

What we see here is a convergence of science and political doctrine.
The last time this happened was during the NAZI reign and we all know how many people were killed, futures and cities destroyed. A direct result was the Cold War which the West won but eventually is going to lose.

It is the EU building walls now and when the job is finished there is no escape.

Just imagine every citizen in the UK on a personal CO2 budget.
Yes' that too is in the pipeline.
The smart grid will enable our Government to enforce this CO2 budget.
They will simply close down the supply of electricity when the budget is reached.
Just think about the repercussions.

All mobility will depend on bio fuels which as we know is based on food stocks.
It will further skyrocket food prices and trigger massive famines in the Third World and poverty in the first world.
And all that without any good reason because we are swimming in energy.

The people behind this scam are worse than the NAZI'S.

If the introduction of the smart grid is not triggering a public revolt, we have lost everything because as soon as the smart grid is online every opposition will be punished by cutting the power supply.

I really hope people understand the consequences of such a devious scheme.

The most vulnerable will be hit hardest.

What seems to be needed is demand-side management, i.e. smart-grids.

Who are they trying to kid......big business (German(ic)/French firms) will want both, they have their hearts and, more appropriately, business plans set on it.You think the electricity prices are high and getting higher, well you ain't seen nothin' yet.

I've tried waking people up, they're only interested in their Farcebook games & reality TV.
