Normally at this time of year the Biggest Douche in the Universe Committee's (pictured) job is an easy one. The BDIU award so readily falls to David Cameron year after year. But this year sees a new talent; the absolute pinnacle of douchedom. While Nick Clegg was a strong contender and David Cameron running high in the stakes, we had to make a special consideration this year. I am, of course, referring to that international man or moronicism, Julian Assange.

About two years ago I gave up any kind of blogging so as not to distract from day job stuff. Fighting idiocy is a full time occupation in itself and naturally one cannot do the job part time and expect to pass as normal (see one RAE North). So I have to be especially irked to find myself giving a rats hindquarters about anything these days for my own job security. But this year no-one has jolt ...

Alright, slightly tongue-in-cheek here, but...



Can't the same be said of the camp guards at Dachau? Or, even (were one to be charitable), Dave Cameron and his merry men...?

Certainly, I am sure that most of those frauds, morons and idiots in the Mother of Parliaments think that they are only doing their jobs: indeed, I am sure that any documents released will show that the elected monkeys, corrupt civil servants, feckless bag-carriers, survey-screwing technocrats and jobsworth bureaucrats are just "people doing their jobs, to the best oftheir abilities".

That doesn't alter the fact that they are using extortion with menaces to steal our money and piss it up the wall.

Well, you can take the adolescent view that America is all evil and bad and wrong OR you can take the view that diplomatic and intelligence services are broadly trying to do good in their own misguided and sometimes flat out wrong ways, based on duff information and sometimes, for the greater good, some information has to be classified.

The point being they answer to elected offices. Assange does not. Furthermore, it's the hypocrisy that gets on my tits. There's enough out there in the public domain that the left is completely blind to, such as UN WFP aid funding militias etc etc and this EUref blog has highlighted plenty for any person of good conscience to get worked up about but it wasnt handed to them on a plate by some little shyster. The moral outrage is entirely selective.

The democratic tradition - like it or not - is that the appointed officials are responsible to the elected representatives who in turn are accountable to the people. If they are not doing their jobs to the best of their abilities, then that is a matter for the elected representatives - Assange has no god-given right to short-cut the process.

Using your example, we have the capability to fire our douchebags - we haven't ... where does the problem lie?

If democracy is demonstrably broken, why respect the actions of the state in all its glory and ability to command millions than the those of an individual? We might not like what Assange does but we're on the same ground, even if he's standing in a huge pile of shit while we are out of trouble with a good view on a high rock.



I agree with this. We didn't need to have the information released. I can't think of how it actively improves the world. There is more interesting information out there that isn't secret that people should know about, and if they did that might bring about change. There's a lot of "Look what I did!", "Aren't I naughty!" rebel-without-causeness to the saga.

What about his stance on global warming?

Whilst I accept that Assange is a deserved recipient of a BDU, for all the reasons that Mr. North gave, I am not so sure about his general attack on "right thinking" people. What I have been seeing is not so much support for Assange, rather an attack on the elites' chosen methods to bring him to book.

Where the left actually support Assange and all his deeds, the right is more concerned about the European Arrest Warrant having some sort of leverage on the English judicial system, Assange might have been a bit weird in regard to his alleged sexual encounters in Sweden, but from an English perspective, he is no rapist. Neither is he a traitor, which is what the Septics will try to get him on.

The test, would be to substitute Assange for another of his ilk, for instance Marta Andreasen. She too could have found herself under arrest and in court for her admirable deeds, however the elites used different methods to try to still her... The silent phone calls, the people following her around etc.

I don't think the left are being hypocritical in the slightest. They fawn over the like of Mugabe - anything that strengthens his hand is surely good news as far as they're concerned? As for damaging the USA, still the shining city on the hill for a lot of us, whilst ignoring vile regimes and corrupt UN programmes. Again, where's the hypocrisy? No one can doubt that the left, especially here in Europe, view the USA as an evil and regimes like Iran, Palestine, etc. as suppressed people's bucking under the American imperialistic jackboot.

As for Assange's criminality, I'm not sure what makes a traitor (betraying one's country I assume) and if he is one, but I imagine he's at least guilty of espionage. There must be some law that says if you get your hands on classified government information, by accident (didn't someone leave a laptop on a train a couple of years ago?) or design , then you should phone 999 rather than splash it all over the internet.

Assange is definately a douche but he is but a dim shadow of the arch-douche Huhne the Loon whose absolute moronic doucheness will affect us all to the nth negativity if we don't stop the bastard dead in his tracks...

Hmm. It's a close call, but I think Mr Huhne just edges it.

We all have secrets that if released into the public domain would do harm, (to ourselves or others ) I would think that most of us would survey the consequences before divulging confidential information,

I disagree with North Jr's admiral post, this evil excuse for a human deserves an special award, as other posters have noted there are several Douche bags in the running for the award, but none of them is about to receive 1,200,000 ( one million two hundred thousand pounds) to put his misery and lies into print.
Don't ( he cries ) send me to Sweden ( the worlds most law abiding country ) as the truth might come out, then, we may also see what other shit this arsehole has done in his very secretive life.

Agree with both Norths, Assange certainly qualifies for the international one and Huhne the Loon for the Brit one.

If any one has doubts about Assange, just apply the Toynbee test. Id est: if she is for it, ergo it is wrong.
