Greg Dyke, the former director general of the BBC, believes the public service broadcaster has damaged its standing at home and abroad with a series of self-inflicted wounds. Thus, we are told, Dyke "accepted some of the blame in an interview with the Observer". He says the BBC's fraught relations with government and the huge sums it has paid to top management and stars such as Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton had dented confidence in a media network that should be the envy of the world.

The trouble is that BBC Wildlife is World Class, and probably would do nicely as an independent company.
The days when the broadsheets and the BBC sang from the same hymn-sheet and the middle classes considered themselves 'informed' and 'aware of current affairs' are long gone.
The internet has shown us just how narrow the official view is and 'current affairs' these days is footballers' WAG.

If the Guardian is considered a broadsheet, then the BBC does sing from the same hymn-sheet as at least one of them.

The MSM are happily trilling away on the subjects that they do DO.
But things like the EU, the Climate Scam &c. are things they don't DO.

The BBC was a public broadcaster with a remit to inform and educate.

Greg Dyke is a numpty and a stooge of the left.

Now 43 years on from Crossland's iniquitous 'reforms' of a quite unparalleled (superb) educational system, the bitter harvest of that seeding, is being reaped. in tertiary education, the trendy socialist thinkers, subverted students and ensnared them in their hackneyed, mind bending, re-education processes. Throughout this process, everything of value was smeared, everything was questioned and doubted, from a Marxist standpoint.

Insidious and venally 'clever'.

History was trashed, the politics of Socialism championed and most things (mores, religion, traditions) that Britain stood for, were systematically and most purposefully demolished.

The undergraduates of the seventies, moved into the jobs' market and became the intake of the BBC recruiters and thus: the poisonous seepage of propaganda, venom and lies was inexorably increased.

The further dumbing down of the populace has now become ridiculous, children leave school after 13 years of State 'education' unable to read, or write cohesive sentences, let alone add up but they know concepts; like citizenship, diversity, equality, human rights (important when they are inevitably 'banged up') and of course AGW and man = badman.

Und so, empty vessels ripe for further indoctrination, who better to serve their needs? Why yes, the BBC! - the tub thumping nerds of; Socialism, AGW, the EU and even the 'religion of peace'.

A job well done
, some of us though (are able to) bear witness.

I am old enough to remember the days when the BBC really was world-class. The World, literally, listened to it for truth & real news (delivered by men obliged to wear dinner jackets in order to face a microphone  ....ridiculous, yes.....but it was a reflection of an expected high standard)
The dinner jackets are long gone...along with the integrity & most else. PDT_Armataz_01_33

The BBC`s supporters always bang on about the quality of the output , citing many programmes made as examples of its superiority . As though an organisation that rakes in billions each year wouldn`t make the occasional good product . Even the Commie bloc countries excelled at the occasional merchandise and idea .

Dont forget you dont have to pay for the BBC .

Ravenscar

Hear,hear!!!!

That is indeed the problem.....but so total is that marxist victory at the Al-Beeb, the only answer now is to sell it off, it can never be changed back.

What I find truly bizarre though, is the abject servitude that the Not the Tory party display, to the 24/7 rubbishing they receive from the Al-Beeb.
