"There'll be no delay in pushing through a green energy revolution if the Conservatives win power, senior shadow cabinet figures tell me," writes Geoffrey Lean.Greg Clark, the Tories shadow energy and climate change minister, has won an undertaking from David Cameron and the party leadership that an energy bill will be included in the first Queen's Speech, delivered within a month of the new Government taking office.

Presumably, if they form a government with the LibDems, they'll have to put a bit more pepper in their green agenda than this. Scary stuff.

Vote Blue - go Bust, but all the main parties are much of a muchness on the green lunacy.

Normally, you can take politicians' commitments with a pinch of salt, but I've got that creepy feeling they are serious.

That's the worst of it ... they are!

I'll take the £6400 quid and Ofgen reform, the rest can go spin.

how about they just approve a stack of new nuclear power stations within the first 12 months, that would secure our energy supply and cut our notional carbon emmisions.

Global Warming? Climate Change? Ha! THIS is the real threat that we should be talking about in Copenhagen Cop 15. It’s music and noise that are causing natural disasters. We have proof. Don’t be a denier! Take a look at our graphs and statistics. Green jobs are useless. We need quiet jobs. Carbon credits? Useless, but you’ll soon be getting noise credits from Uncle Sam. Cap & Trade?

This is intended as parody, but if the UN/EU gets hold of it, it may become reality.

What that fool Lean fails to realise, as he gets so excited about realiseing his wrecking agenda, is that the Green Tosser is going to be very lucky to get a majority. If he does get one and then loads us all down with Green taxes etc, what little support he did get will disappear in a New York minute......

The truth that Lean and his equally sad ilk fail to see, is that virtually no-one in the real world believes in AGW.

PS can anyone imagine what an immense bore Lean must be in real life.

I don't know what he must make of the comments ... they are invariably hostile and often very personal and pointed.

In a sane world you'd think that his editor, would read them and sack him...pissing off yr clients has never been seen to work anywhere. Though no doubt he is only employed to push the Green Tossers mellon obsession.

Oh my God, more "green" lunatics, such a shame we did not keep the old asylum buildings, ideal place for them to practice their greenism. And then in the Telegraph letters page we have a group of scientists plus one calling for more money to be spent on science. The odd one was,....yes, Lord Rees of something called the "Royal Society". It has seen great scientist make great discoveries, or at least announce them there, in the past but I fear that is long gone. Will it, or someone of integrity, restore it to it's former glory? Like all our great traditions, those left, it seems destined to follow the "Common Law", National Sovereignty, Democracy even, into the realms of history, to be picked over by ancient Dons who can still remember those far off times. No "smilie" is sad enough.

It looks like France has found a pretext for backtracking on its commitment to wind power. It is going to tighten up the planning rules on windfarms so that they will be treated in the same way as chemical plants. This is expected to result in 70% of windfarms currently in the planning stage being rejected. And no windfarms of less than 15 MW (= 15 wind turbines) will be allowed - this is to stop small installations being set up piecemeal all over the place. The vested interests are complaining that this decision is "éolicide".

The DT has a few columnists such as Lean and Mary Riddell whose purpose seems to be to annoy the readers and produce lots of adverse comments. If people are moved to comment, at least they are reading the articles.

As for their editorial position, they seem to be sort of going along with the establishment position, not quite believing that the scam has been rumbled and that there are serious questions, such as keeping the lights on, which they prefer not to address.

GB continues to push this bill when most of the rest of the world have abandoned their bills - including Germany, France, Australia.

Not so surprising, perhaps because the City stands to gain from carbon trading.

This article kicked off a though on the recent volcanic ash scare. The americans have a system which consists (aiui) of a computer model of ash dispersion feed from atmospheric samples taken by aircraft. Presumably they also have saftey levels for ash concentration (and possibly ash type). As the same aircraft fly here as fly there why were we not using their safety levels? According to the reports this was all agreed for europe as if from a blank sheet.
