If Mr Boris Johnson, in seeking to revive Parliament, really thinks the answer is far fewer laws, as he professes in his op-ed today, then one of the most fruitful places to look is Brussels – from where most of our laws now emanate. Needless to say though, in common with many of his class, be mentions not the EU, which makes him part of the problem rather than the solution.

"Latterly, he asks whether there should there be a UK-wide constitutional convention."

Which,if left in the hands of the political classes will only drop us further into the shit.

Yea ... absolutely agree. It would be a stitch-up in exactly the same way that the EU convention was, with the politicos using it to "legitimise" what they were intending to do anyway. However, if we somehow manage to take possession of the process, we might be in with a chance.

I'm no fan of Mr Johnson's but he does point out the laws that come from Brussels

eg here

Perhaps he doesn't make as much of it as you Richard or perhaps he is uneven - Fair complaints.

"...a new breed of MPs who will consistently tell the whips to get stuffed"

Yeah, like that's going to happen.

Boris here, unfortunately, has lost the plot. The members are dependant upon the party for electoral resources and support; like, they're going to tell the party whip to FO? I have lost a lot of respect for the BJ.

I guess it is easier to be witty outside of government than tough within it.
